MEZZETTA

2024

IDA International Design Awards Bronze Winner 2024

For my final project in my Studio One Graphic Design course at SCAD, I chose to re-design the well-known greek condiment company Mezzetta. Mezzetta is primarily known for its high-quality pickled and brined condiments, such as pickled onions, roasted red peppers, pepperoncini, and olives. In my research for this project, I discovered the rich Greek history behind the company and chose to incorporate that throughout my project’s redesign. I wanted to highlight the family-oriented nature of Mezzetta with hand-drawn illustrations as well as a warm Greek-inspired font. For Mezzetta’s new overarching logo, I wanted to create something that read Greek to highlight their history and chose to illustrate a Minoan bull similar to Greek paintings, as well as implementing the use of a Mezzetta which is an ancient traditional jug of oil. All of these elements are in my package design, which highlights the simplicity and reliability of the product as well as their use of high-quality ingredients. For my photos, I wanted to highlight Mezzetta’s ingredients to exemplify the trustworthy and familial nature of the brand. Throughout the design process, my goal was to highlight Mezzetta’s history while bringing their branding into the modern age to allow them to continue producing high-quality products for another 90 years.

In re-shooting this project, I wanted to exemplify the modernity and simplicity of the packaging and logo I created. working with Maddy, we created the perfect environment for the new Mezzetta brand to live in. This project felt like a culmination of all the classes I had taken thus far and showed me how far I had come as a Designer. My Mezzetta redesign was also selected for two individual National Graphic Design competitions, and I couldn’t be more proud of how far I have come and the work I have created thus far.
