PYTHIA MAGAZINE

2023

The Pythia editorial magazine project emerged as a highlight during my sophomore year of college, particularly within the context of my Typography class. The assignment tasked us with crafting a typeface for a magazine, providing a canvas to explore the intricate relationship between type and images. Inspired by the mythical Oracle of Delphi from Greek mythology, a seer who revered the god Apollo, patron of poetry and the arts, I conceptualized a feminist poetry magazine named Pythia. One distinctive element of this endeavor was the handmade typeface meticulously created for the project, visible across every spread, infusing a personalized touch to the editorial aesthetic. Taking on the role of both typographer and creative director, I orchestrated a photoshoot that granted me the freedom to shape the visual narrative. This immersive experience allowed me to seamlessly integrate type and imagery, witnessing firsthand how these elements harmonize to construct a cohesive and visually compelling piece. The Pythia project stands as a testament to the fusion of creativity and technical skill, showcasing the intersection of typography and photography in the realm of editorial design.
